Vintage is the word that describes an object, idea, or style of a past era. The word “vintage” can be used to describe anything that has a timeless quality.
Whether it is clothing, furniture, a certain style of jewelry a vehicle or a motorcycle.
The Vespa was created in 1946 by Italian designer, engineer, and aeronautical engineer, Corradino D’Ascanio.
Towards the end of World War II, two Italian engineers, Corradino D’Ascanio and Gianni Turini, began to design a small motor scooter that they could use as transportation in the devastated post-war Italy. It was called a “vespa”.
The name comes from a type of horse carriage called a “vespa” that was popular in Italy during the 1930s.
The original design is still used today with some modern modifications to improve performance and comfort.
The first model was called the model “P.4”. The P.4 had a 2-stroke, single cylinder, air-cooled motor with a top speed of about 34 km/h (21 mph). By 1948, it was selling for just under £200 in England and by 1949 100,000 vespas had been sold. The Vespa has been produced continuously ever since then and currently has over 200 million worldwide sales
